181: Oktoberfest 4

We open with... the Podcast Pitch? Jeremy talks about two hot button podcasts that he has been listening to. We then move on to an extended edition of beer brag, where Michael recounts a set of brews he had from Door County Brewing and Jeremy talks Hero IPAs from Revolution that he had in Chicago. Jeremy talks more of his Chicago travels, Oktoberfest brews, and some big beer hijinks that left him disappointed. Finally, we get into the FDR where we try an Oktoberfest style beer from Wisconsin. We are actually on time this year.

Getting right into it, Michael brags about a Neopolitan Stout, but what is this? Good News! Cigarette Juice! Jeremy and his crew take home second place in the pub trivia championship. He celebrates with a Galaxy and Citra hopped brew and a boozed up Ginger Beer. Then we begin the interview with a daywalker. Michael asks Jeremy about what he has seen at concerts, Cenobites, and corned beef. Next we get into the FDR with a beer from Germany.

We open up on the aisle with a surprise movie discussion. Then the beer brags arrive, which include a citra nitro lager, Jeremy messing with a recip, Sierra Nevada's collabo Oktoberfest, and a bad apple ale. Next we get into some articles we saw on vinepair.com, one on bottle sizes and the other on the best selling beers in the nation. Last on deck is the FDR, where a brew intrigues the hosts on a level not seen in awhile.

Officially back in the studio, we kick it off with some beer brags. Jeremy finds joy in a Kolsch from Surly, whereas Michael had an amber he didn't really like that much and a weird gose at pub trivia. Michael quizzes Jeremy with tiebreaker questions before opening up the American Pale Male Mail Pail. We discuss TG brewing for HV, then discuss a video from a popular YouTube franchise involving cheap American Beer. Finally, we get into the FDR where we go back to Reunion again. This time it's personal. We also find out about Ekuanot.

177: Disastercast

Yes, this title is similar to an earlier episode... we sort of piecemealed this one together. This is a couple of live recordings stitched together with studio interstitials. Caveats abound we jump into Jeremy and a goosey Michael talking Phantasm while watching a wrestling match. We still manage to be moderately successful at some Mikes vs. Machine trivia and we even sneak in an FDR. After cutting away, we return to a brief recording at the Sanctuary in Iowa City, where we are wrapping up spinning yarns over some Oktoberfest beer. I guess it is another FDR. Why not?

Ah, most of this episode revolves around us discussing the book Barrel-Aged Stout and Selling Out by Josh Noel. We do manage to get in beer brags at the beginning, but even an exceptional FDR is overshadowed by our enthusiasm. It of in itself is tangentially related to the book. Also included is an informal poll Jeremy conducted in response to what he read.
